The space where visitors enjoy the refreshing dance of goldfish transforms into a somewhat mysterious and eerie atmosphere as dusk falls.At the Art Aquarium Museum GINZA, “Mysterious Goldfish Museum: Eerie Sounds and Lights” is currently on display as the second act of the summer special event “Summer Art Aquarium 2026.” The exhibition runs from Tuesday, July 21, to Wednesday, August 12, exclusively from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
The most distinctive feature of this exhibition is that the atmosphere inside the museum changes completely at 4:00 PM. From 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, the lighting and music shift from the usual elegant exhibition space to a more eerie tone.
As you walk through a colorful passageway lined with rows of cylindrical aquariums and covered overhead by countless wind chimes, yokai from ukiyo-e paintings emerge, drawn by the interplay of light and sound.
Amidst luxurious folding-screen-style tanks where goldfish swim gracefully, terrifying yet beautiful yokai—such as giant skeletons and demon cats—emerge from the shadows on the walls.
Traditional Japanese ghost stories and ukiyo-e art fuse with modern projection technology and aquariums to create a unique immersive experience.
