The “2026 Edo Fukagawa Cherry Blossom Festival” will be held from March 20 (Fri, holiday) to April 12 (Sun), featuring cherry blossom viewing boat rides, illuminations, and various events.
Along the approximately 1.3 km stretch of the Ōyokogawa River south of Monzen-Nakacho Station, about 270 Somei-Yoshino cherry trees bloom simultaneously from late March to early April.

The traditional Japanese boats with oarsmen, operating on weekends during the festival period, are specially brought to the O-Yokogawa River for this time only. They make a 30-minute round trip from Kurofune Bridge to Tomoe Bridge using the old-fashioned oar-powered boats. As only about 200 people can ride each day, arriving early is recommended.
Nighttime cherry blossoms and the tea houses within the grounds of Tomioka Hachimangu Shrine are also recommended.
During the festival period, the cherry blossom trees lining the area between Higashi-Tomi Bridge and Koshijima Bridge will be illuminated every night. Many bars and restaurants line the north side of the O-Yokogawa River, so visitors can also enjoy the view of the illuminated cherry blossoms from the windows of these establishments.
Additionally, at the Tomioka Hachimangu Shrine grounds, a limited-time teahouse will be open on weekends and holidays from March 20 (Fri, holiday) to April 5 (Sun). Visitors can enjoy traditional Japanese sweets, matcha tea, sake, along with Fukagawa Odori dance and shamisen music.
Why not visit the “Oedo Fukagawa Cherry Blossom Festival” once the cherry blossoms bloom? You can enjoy various activities depending on the time of day.
📍The main venue at Ishijima Bridge is right outside Monzen-nakacho Station, Exits 2 and 4.
