Michael Jackson, the “King of Pop,” created *Thriller*, the best-selling album in human history, and continues to influence artists around the world to this day with his innovative dance moves, including the Moonwalk.
This film, which portrays him, opened in Japan on Friday, June 12, and recorded an audience of 672,056 and box office revenue of 1,090,023,220 yen in its first three days of release. It set the record for the best opening performance among both Japanese and foreign live-action films released in 2026 in terms of both audience numbers and box office revenue.
As of Monday, June 15, the film’s worldwide box office revenue has exceeded $930 million, surpassing *Bohemian Rhapsody* to set a new all-time record for the highest-grossing music biopic.

To commemorate the film’s blockbuster opening, a fan screening has been scheduled.
