“YURAKUCHO MUSEUM,” a new exhibition space opening within the Tokyo International Forum, will utilize two gallery spaces—one large and one small—to host a variety of exhibitions and events where visitors can encounter new works and forms of expression.
The “Not Just Cute!? Pingu Exhibition,” which will serve as the grand opening event, will run from Friday, July 10, to Sunday, September 6.
The exhibition will also feature collaborative works with the acclaimed miniature photographer and conceptual artist, Tatsuya Tanaka.

“Not Just Cute!? The Pingu Exhibition” is an interactive exhibition themed around an amusement park, where visitors can see, touch, and enjoy the charms of Pingu in ways they’ve never experienced before.
Through the display of production materials—including rare clay models used in the actual animation production , early studio records, and storyboards— visitors can explore Pingu’s history and the characters that appear in the series, gaining a deeper understanding of the origins of the work.
A photo spot inspired by “Pingu’s House,” familiar from the anime, will also be featured.
Additionally, a collaboration between Pingu and Tatsuya Tanaka (miniature photographer and object-as-art artist)—who has gained popularity for his miniature art that reimagines everyday objects as something else—has been confirmed. In addition to displaying three Pingu works previously shared on social media for the first time, new pieces are currently being created specifically for this exhibition.
Tickets go on sale on Eplus starting at 12:00 PM on Saturday, May 23. If you purchase your ticket by Thursday, July 9, you will receive one original clear bookmark from the “Not Just Cute!? Pingu Exhibition” (5 designs available).
