A Once-in-a-Century Milestone
The year 2026 marks exactly 100 years since architect Antoni Gaudí died after being struck by a streetcar. It is also the year that the “Tower of Jesus,” the main tower of the Sagrada Família—which has been called the “unfinished church” since construction began in 1882—will finally be completed.
“The Eternal Gaudí” has already been screened around the world, and this marks its Tokyo premiere.
The Barcelona-based Sagrada Família Foundation (© FOUNDATION Junta Constructora del Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família) is the official body responsible for the construction, preservation, and operation of the cathedral for over 140 years since 1882, and it also grants licenses for related content. Only content officially approved by the Foundation can be distributed internationally as “Foundation-Certified Content.”
From “Viewing” to “Creating”
Visitors will immerse themselves in the story as “Gaudí’s disciples” and walk through a 3D recreation—based on academic records—of the 1926 studio that was destroyed by fire after Gaudí’s death. Guided by Gaudí’s own voice, they will pick up architectural blueprints, and in the climax, they will lay the stones of the Sagrada Família with their own hands.
The experience consists of four acts and lasts approximately 30 minutes.
– ACT 01 — Relive the creative process from rough sketches to models in Gaudí’s 1926 studio
– ACT 02 — Visually experience the laws of nature—such as plant stems and mountain ridges—that Gaudí transformed into architecture
– ACT 03 — Walk through the interiors of the Sagrada Família, the Güell Palace, and Casa Batlló
– ACT 04 — In a fantastical space where light and shadow intertwine, lay the legendary stones of a 140-year-old legacy with your own hands
Up to 30 people can enter the same VR space
The most distinctive feature of WAHHHP lies in its socially immersive design. While many VR experiences are solitary, here up to 30 people can connect simultaneously to the same VR space during a 30-minute session and see the participants standing right next to them while wearing their headsets.
The experience also features a guide function that brings users back to reality when they approach a wall, creating an environment that is easy to use even for VR beginners and families with children.
The experience is available in five languages: Japanese, English, Chinese, Korean, and French. Given its convenient location—just a one-minute walk from Exit 7 of JR Shinjuku Station—the attraction is designed to appeal not only to domestic visitors but also to international tourists.
