“THE DOG PARK TOYOSU,” an urban dog park, will have its soft opening on Friday, September 11, on the site of a former housing exhibition center in Toyosu 6-chome, Koto Ward. Starting the following day, Saturday, September 12, breed-specific festivals are scheduled to be held every weekend, with the first event being the “Italian Greyhound Festival.”
Turning a Vacant Lot into a “Place to Spend Time with Your Dog”
Large outdoor dog runs are concentrated in the suburbs, so spending a whole day with your dog typically required a long trip. Meanwhile, there are numerous sites in the city center awaiting future development that are currently being used for temporary purposes.
“THE DOG PARK TOYOSU” is a facility created as an effort to bridge that gap, and it will operate for a limited time until December 2028.
Projection mapping will also be featured in the evenings
The approximately 15,000-square-meter site will feature a dog run (with four areas for small, medium, and large dogs, as well as a private rental area), a café with terrace seating, a pickleball court, a putting green, an event space, and a food and beverage zone with food trucks.
The park is adjacent to Toyosu Gururi Park and is characterized by its waterfront location where the sea breeze blows through. Operating hours for the entire facility are 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The dog run is open from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. (5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. from May through September), allowing visitors to use the facility early in the morning to avoid the midday heat.
Nighttime-exclusive content, such as projection mapping, is also planned, allowing visitors to enjoy the park in different ways depending on the time of day. Approximately 96 events are scheduled throughout the year, and admission to Sunday events will be free.
