“Kurashi no Manimani” is a series of events held on the approximately 100-tatami-mat “Tatami” space on the 4th floor of MoN Takanawa, offering a monthly reinterpretation of seasonal events and customs that are gradually being forgotten in modern life.
Tatami mats were once at the center of Japanese daily life. On tatami mats, people felt the changing seasons, savored seasonal delicacies, and conversed with family—a rich wisdom that thrived there, as people lived their daily lives in harmony with the flow of nature.
The theme for August’s “Kurashi no Manimani” is “Festival.” You can spend the last moments of summer in the “Tatami” space, where you can forget the hustle and bustle of the city.

Workshop to Make Enchanting “Moon-Viewing Lanterns”
This month, reflecting on the “Nijūrokuya-machi” moon-viewing custom that once flourished in Takanawa, we are holding a workshop to create fantastical “moon-viewing lanterns” using the traditional “mon-giri” paper-cutting technique.
Using the latest video technology, the venue’s walls will feature a screening of “Matsuri to,” a video produced by Canon Marketing Japan that captures the summer excitement across various regions of Eastern Japan. Additionally, mitarashi dango from the Kanazawa wagashi shop “Mifuku” will be on sale.
