1, Roppongi Crossing 2025: Time is Running Out and We Are Forever (December 3 – March 29, 2026)
Every three years, the Mori Art Museum holds an exhibition that serves as a fixed-point observation of the contemporary art scene in Japan. This year’s exhibition, themed “Time,” will bring together a diverse range of expressions, including an immersive installation by internationally acclaimed artist A.A. Murakami and a large, colorful ceramic work by Takuro Kuwata, who is also known for his collaborations with foreign maisons, that radiates overwhelming formative beauty.

2, Blue Cave SHIBUYA (December 4 – December 25 )

About 500,000 lights will cover the entire area from Shibuya Park Avenue to the zelkova trees in Yoyogi Park in an all-blue color scheme. This year, “Blue Cave THE SNOWMAN,” a giant spherical balloon in the shape of a snowman that appeared last year, will be set up at the Yoyogi Park Zelkova trees, and a Christmas movie will be projected.

3, Odaiba Rainbow Fireworks (December 6, 13, 20, 24, 27)

Dynamic fireworks display colors the dignified winter night sky of Odaiba. On each date, fireworks will be shot offshore from the “Statue of Liberty” for about 5 minutes starting at 19:00. 20 December, “Music Fireworks” will be held, in which fireworks are shot off in time with music. The best place to view the fireworks is from Odaiba Kaihin Park, DECKS Tokyo Beach, Aqua City Odaiba, and other nearby facilities.

4, Futakotamagawa Rise Skate Garden (December 6 – March 1)
This year, reflecting the world view of “HEARTLIGHT HOLIDAY with MOOMIN” at Futakotamagawa Rise Christmas 2025, the skating rink will be surrounded by decorations depicting Moomin’s friends, making visitors feel as if they were residents of the Moomin Valley. For first-time skaters, a one-point lesson (10 minutes/¥1,000) will be available on the day of the event.

This year marks the 15th edition of this book fair specializing in art publications. For the first time, the fair will be held over two weekends. 6, Toward the Great Mausoleum of Perception: Interactive Installation by Seiko Mikami (December 13 – March 8, 2026)
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the death of Haruko Mikami, and the exhibition will look back on her activities from a media art perspective by presenting several interactive installations created since the late 1990s. This is the first time that three large installations will be exhibited simultaneously in Japan and abroad. During the exhibition, talk events with artists and researchers who were close to Mikami are also planned.

7, Natsume no Kannon Go-En Hinichi/Hagoita Ichiba ( December 17-19)

Dozens of stores selling Hagoita (wooden shuttlecocks) line the Senso-ji temple grounds, a tradition in Asakusa during the New Year’s holiday. Hagoita was originally regarded as a good-luck charm, as the feathers of a hagoita resemble an insect-eating dragonfly, which eats bad insects (disease), or the “beans” on the tips of the feathers mean “to live a blissful life.” Eventually, the custom of giving a hagoita to a house where a girl is born became popular, and hagoita was Hagoita became the mainstay of the “Year-old Market” (formerly known as “Hagoita Market”).

8, Candlelight Christmas Concert (December 18, 25, 26)
Candlelight Concerts ” will be held at the Kanze Noh Theater on the 3rd basement floor of GINZA SIX on December 18 and 25, and at Christ Shinagawa Church Gloria Chapel on December 26, featuring live performances of “Christmas Eve” by Tatsuro Yamashita and Mariah Carey , respectively. 9, Meguro Snow Christmas 2025 (December 19-21)

10, Broadway Christmas Wonderland (December 23-25)
A breathtaking performance of song and dance, a skating show, and an appearance by Santa Claus, “Christmas at the Theater” will be held again this year at the Kyu Theatre Orb. For the four performances from December 23 to 25, all visitors will receive a Santa hat as a gift.

11, The 90th Anniversary Residency THE LEGENDARY COUNT BASIE ORCHESTRA directed by SCOTTY BARNHART (December 23-28)
The Count Basie Orchestra, a big band with a 90-year history, will be performed at Blue Note Tokyo for seven days. Even after the founder Basie’s death, the band has continued to perform vigorously, winning the 66th Grammy Award for Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album for their 2023 album “Basie Swings The Blues! 12, Suntory Hall Christmas 2025 (Dec. 25)

The Christmas Concert at Suntory Hall is a concert for both those familiar with classical music and beginners, featuring “Christmas Overture,” a magnificent orchestral performance of hymns, Tchaikovsky’s ballet suite “The Nutcracker,” Debussy’s “Moonlight,” and other works. A pre-concert concert by organist Kanaka Shimizu will be held 20 minutes before the concert begins, and the solemn music played by the world’s largest organ will add a romantic touch to the sacred night.

13, Dinosaur Grand Night Tour 2025 (Dec. 25-28)
Inspired by “Hyakki Yagyo Emaki,” a nighttime parade of ghosts and demons that takes place when people are asleep, the Tokyo National Museum’s night parade, which was held for the first time last year, will be further upgraded this year. The evening parade will be held from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., and the evening parade from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.
