Their First Joint Visit to Japan
Ahead of the May 1 release of “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” Meryl Streep (Miranda) and Anne Hathaway (Andy) are visiting cities around the world as part of a global promotional tour.
At the Mexico City premiere held on March 30 local time, the two stars appeared on a stage reminiscent of a runway, designed to reflect the film’s theme. They are scheduled to visit Tokyo, Seoul, Shanghai, New York, and London next.
Synopsis of “The Devil Wears Prada 2”
Set in the editorial offices of the top fashion magazine “Runway,” the original “The Devil Wears Prada” was released in theaters 20 years ago. Andy, played by Anne Hathaway, who worked as an assistant there, is drawn back into that world once again.
The catalyst is a crisis threatening the survival of “Runway.” As Miranda, the fashion industry icon and editor-in-chief, and her right-hand man Nigel face a crisis, Andy, who had been working as a reporter, returns to “Runway” as a features editor.
Additionally, Andy reunites with her former colleague Emily (Emily Blunt). Now an executive at a luxury brand, Emily plays a pivotal role in the survival of “Runway.” As the dreams and ambitions of these four women collide, the story heads toward an unexpected conclusion—
For Japanese fans, the Japanese brands featured in the film are also worth noting. On July 28 of last year, reports surfaced of Anne Hathaway wearing a sacai outfit, which became a hot topic in Japan as well.
How will the working woman’s bible that took the world by storm be portrayed in 2026? The film opens in theaters on Friday, May 1.
