The design was created by architect Yuko Nagayama, who also worked on the pavilions for the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo. Drawing inspiration from the multi-layered nature of Shinjuku, she has superimposed new layers onto “fragments of the past”—such as the existing mosaic tile bathhouse murals and curved ceilings.
The iconic tile murals were restored using AI technology. Furthermore, by adding green hues, a unified and fantastical atmosphere was created throughout the entire bathing area.
The sauna zone features a cave-like space defined by smooth, flowing curves.
Men’s Sauna “THE ABYSS”
The men’s sauna, “THE ABYSS,” features a cave-like, curved space lined with lava tiles, creating an immersive experience through two automatic löyly systems and carefully curated music. It also includes an open-air bathing area that changes its atmosphere between day and night, with the nighttime illumination being particularly striking.
Women’s Sauna “THE COCOON”
The women’s sauna, “THE COCOON,” is a circular space enveloped in soft curves. Guests can enjoy aromatherapy and herbs during self-service löyly sessions, and complimentary detox water is another welcome amenity. Both saunas feature a “Beauty Bubble Cold Plunge” maintained at 15–16°C using natural groundwater, allowing guests to cool down while enveloped in countless bubbles.
After your bath, head to the beer bar attached to the reception desk. There, you can enjoy craft beers from their in-house brewery, “BATHE YOTSUME BREWERY.” The selection includes unique brews available only here, such as the “Shinjuku Lager,” created to commemorate the opening, and distinctive beers made with mugwort.
Furthermore, the facility features a permanent DJ booth equipped with a record player and an XDJ. It is characterized by sound design that harmonizes with the space and the bathing experience, and DJ events and live sessions are planned for the future. Expectations are high that it will serve as a new community hub where various cultures intersect, centered around the public bathhouse.
It is also the first private-sector business to introduce a solar-heated water supply system. By using this system for the baths and showers, the facility reduces CO2 emissions by approximately 34%, making it an environmentally conscious, next-generation public bathhouse.
From a quick refresh after work to a weekend retreat, this spot is sure to attract attention as a place to experience a new side of Tokyo culture.
